Today we received a few new items from Vans; an Off The Wall logo tee and a plaid New Era 59/50 fitted cap.
With gas prices soaring and biking enjoying an unprecedented popularity here in the States, Vans Vault has decided to release 3 new models of the 45 LX known as the “Fixed Gear Pack.”
If Vans’ history wasn’t so firmly rooted in “extreme sporting” my cynical side would be forced to view this as nothing more than a shameless money grab; something akin to if we’d released a Boston Celtics tee last weekend (P.S. – Enjoy it now Boston. Next year is the year of the Cavs!) However, because this is Vans and they have been supporting sports such as skating, surfing, biking, etc. for years, this release seems both logical and timely.
While there is nothing very technical that defines these shoes as biking shoes, there are some nice details that tie into the theme. Most notably, there is 3M reflective material woven into the laces and featured on the Vans logo tag and the heel logo; great for making yourself more visible to automobiles while pedaling around town. As an added goodie, Vans has thrown in a small saddle bag that can be velcroed to either one’s belt, handle bars, or crossbar. This bag is perfect for storing all of the things that might otherwise fall out of one’s pocket while riding.

Vans Vault has teamed up with artist/punk rocker Niagara to bring you these 4 limited edition sneakers. There are 2 slip-ons and 2 Sk8-Hi’s.
Niagara is known for both her founding role in the early punk band, Destroy All Monsters, and, more recently, for her “lowbrow” art. Her work meshes elements of pop art with a more seedy influence that could be traced back to her punk rock roots.

This Saturday at 11AM, when our doors open, we will be offering one of the most highly anticipated Nike Quickstrike drops of the year. This release is known as the “King of the Mountains” Air Max 90. This Air Max 90 Premium features the original Air Mowabb colorway and a wide array of design details and high quality materials. These include high quality leather, a perforated toebox, a speckled outsole, a partially clear sole which reveals a unique graphic, two sets of laces, and more.

We have another Nike Quickstrike release dropping this Saturday morning at 11AM. This time it is an Air Stab known as the “Runnin ‘n’ Gunnin.” These also release with a t-shirt that hooks up with the shoe. Be aware that there are less tees than shoes though.
